Dhawan addresses traders in city, claims support

Bahujan Samaj PartyMr. Harmohan Dhawan Former Union Minister and BSP candidate from Chandigarh today addressed a press conference at Shehanshah Restaurant Sector 17, which was attended by around 500 traders from all over Chandigarh, who announced their support to Mr. Dhawan.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Dhawan said, that being a traders himself he is well aware of the problems which the traders are facing these days. He further said that the long pending demand of the balanced rent act is a matter of grave consideration as it will benefit both landlord and tenant as well. Mr. Bansal who has been MP for 15 years has been promising to resolve this issue, but he has failed to do so. He further added that Chandigarh is the only city where the traders have to pay double taxes that is lease on the property and property tax as well, which is a burden on the traders. He said, voted to power he will advocate the policy of single taxation.

Mr. Dhawan further added that Chandigarh has grown many folds since it was built and so has the needs of the people. Mr. Bansal has been promising the transfer of SCF to SCO which he failed to get done and given a chance he will allow the commercial activities in SCOs and SCFs at a very nominal price. Mr. Dhawan added that since the needs have changed so there must be some change in the infrastructure also keeping this in mind he will ensure that the need based changes will be regularized. Mr. Dhawan said, that the penalty on need based changes has been increased from Rs. 20/- per sq. ft. to Rs. 500/- per sq. ft. which will be reverted.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. B.K. Sood Chairman Bahujan Beopar Mandal said that, the traders have stood by Mr. Bansal all this while but he failed to get their demands met. Answering the query that what Mr. Dhawan has done for the media? Mr. Dhawan replied, that he is one of the founder members of Chandigarh Press Club, he got 1.5 acres of land allotted to Chandigarh Press Club, the swimming pool in press club was innagurated by him, the first direct TV satellite was installed at Press club by his efforts and Bahen Kumari Mayawati donated RS 31 lacs to the Press club and voted to power he will make sure that houses are allotted to media fraternity as well.

Urging Mr Dhawan the traders said that Chandigarh Municipal Corporation is a toothless body and if voted to power he should do something in this regards also.

Later in the evening Mr. Dhawan addressed public meetings at wool market sector 38C, Village Badheri, Ambedkar Colony Dhanas, village Mauli, Sector 19 D market and Maloya colony all of which witnessed impressive gathering.
