Farewell And Thanks Statement Of Chairman Ca Uma Kant Mehta Chandigarh Chapter Of ICAI

Farewell and thanks message from outgoing past Chairman CA Uma Kant Mehta Chandigarh Chapter of Institute of Chartered Accountant of India.

Dear Friends,

My Dear Friends,

I am writing to you for the last time, as the chairman of this august branch. It was with the grace of the Almighty and the blessings of you all that I was bestowed the honor of being the Chairman of Chandigarh branch of ICAI, around an year back. Along with the overwhelming trust put in me by you all, came my duty to rise to these expectations of the profession and its constituents. Me and my team has tried to deliver our best . It has been my good luck that I had the team worth relishing. No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent and so was I. When I look behind the achievements of the year behind, the thing that strikes out is the tireless support put in by the team. Coming together was a beginning, keeping together was progress and working together is success. I owe my success to them. My seniors have always been my inspiration, support and the guiding force.

It had been our endevour to provide the members the best of speakers on subjects of our varied professional interests including Seminars & Workshops on Companies Act, 2013, New Tax Audit Format,Finer Aspects in Direct Taxes and Indirect Taxes, Accounting Standards. On the education front, Certificate Courses on Indirect Taxes, Valuation, DISA and Forensic Audit & Fraud Detection were conducted. For students, we strived to add quality to the Orientation & Training of the CA students through GMCS – I and GMCS – II.

We have tried to make the branch to be more user friendly. The building has been renovated with addition of member lounge with the provision of library and also addition of Reading Room where more than 75 students can sit and study which hs been made operative and students are making use of this facility for the last more than six months. The concept of Study Group, wherein the participating members will be deliberating amongst themselves on various issues. To start with study groups on Direct Taxes and on Companies Act were initiated. These groups are periodically meeting and study groups on other subjects are also proposed.

The continuous efforts of Branch Executive has been recognised and Decentralised Office (DCO) has finally being made operational w.e.f. 27th February, 2015 thus the long standing demand and requirement of Chandigarh Branch has been met. Ms. Ashima Maini, Section Officer, NRO has been deputed in Chandigarh and presently she will function from Branch Premises. I personally acknowledge the support extended by all the members in this regard.

Tragedies & achievements are part of the parcel called life. Apart from all these achievements, we lost one of our executive members CA Vishwas Aggarwal, who left us at a very young age, which was reminiscent of uncertainness of life.

Believe me friends, serving you was really a learning and enlightening experience. No matter how much time passes, no matter what takes place in the interim, there are some things we can never assign to oblivion, memories we can never rub away.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched… but are felt in the heart. I take this opportunity to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart and promise & strive to be amongst you in all the times to come. May, with the grace of Almighty, you all attain the height, you have dreamt in your professional & personal lives.

Jai Hind

CA Uma Kant Mehta
Chairman
