Candidate of BJP from Chandigarh Lok Sabha Constituency Mr. Satya Pal Jain today got a strong shot in the arm with pledges of support from the powerful Indian Ex-Services Movement and All India Martyrs Honour Committee as well as Chandigarh Jat Sabha headed by former Haryana DGP M.S. Malik. In a crowded press conference held in Chandigarh Press club Brig Harwant Singh who had announced his candidature from the Chandigarh Lok Sabha Constituency made the announcement of standing down in favour of Mr. Satya Pal Jain. Giving reasons he read out a detailed statement explaining why the IESM had decided to support BJP after the BJP released their ‘Manifesto’ which not only included ‘One Rank, One Pension’ but went a few steps ahead and addressed our concerns about Defence and Internal Security.
Later in the day Former Chandigarh mayor and senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal in Chandigarh Mrs. Harjinder Kaur made it clear that Akali Dal stands united behind Mr Jain. In a pres conference held in Chandigarh State BJP office Mrs Harjinnder Kaur said there was some confusion in Akali Dal circles which has now been resolved. The party is fully behind Mr Jain as Akali Dal is an inherent part of the National Democratic Alliance.
Former Haryana DGP and President of All India Martyrs Honour Committee and Chandigarh Jat Sabha Mr. M.S. Malik announced that these organizations will support BJP and NDA candidates in the forthcoming elections. He recalled that it was during the NDA rule that martyrs were given the respect they deserved. He regretted the way martyrdom of security men was politicized after the Delhi blasts and the politics was played over their deaths of security men.
Chandigarh Ayurvedic Practitioners Association in a meeting decided to fully support Mr. Satya Pal Jain. The meeting was chaired by Association President Dr. Anwar Ali. Mr. Satya Pal Jain was chief guest in meeting of the association. Mr. Narata Mal Gupta, President of Marble Traders Association today announced full support to Mr. Jain on behalf of the association. Mr. Som Nath, District President of RJD Unit of Ramdarbar today joined BJP along with hundreds of his supporters.
Candidate of BJP from Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency Mr. Satya Pal Jain today said that silence of the congress party on especially the Chandigarh MP and Minister of State for Finance on the price rise is baffling. Speaking to media after thanking the Indian Ex-servicemen’s Movement for their support to him at Chandigarh and to candidates of BJP NDA all over the country Mr. Jain said the MP must tell people what is the reason for this and who is responsible for this.
